Since 2008, franchisee Jacques Kulig has operated two Call a Pizza stores in Bernau and Pankow, Berlin. Depending on the day of the week, each branch processes up to 300 orders daily.
An interview with Jacques Kulig, franchisee of the Call a Pizza store in Bernau
Before switching to SIDES Kitchen management software , Jacques Kulig organized kitchen processes at his Call a Pizza locations using multiple receipt printers at each workstation. A receipt was printed in the kitchen for every order. Staff had to coordinate with each other to decide who would handle which order. Especially during peak hours, the high volume of orders led to chaotic piles of paper and miscommunication, frequently resulting in orders being processed incorrectly or twice.

“With the SIDES Kitchen Manager, we process orders much faster than before. We no longer have a mess of paper in the kitchen, and the kitchen team can see exactly which orders are already being processed on the monitor. There’s no more need for complicated coordination.”
Jacques Kulig, Call a Pizza Franchisee
Faster order processing with the Kitchen Manager
In 2021, Jacques Kulig introduced kitchen management to his store in Berlin-Pankow to optimize his kitchen processes. Subsequently, the kitchen software was also rolled out at the Bernau branch. All order channels converge directly in the restaurant POS system and are automatically transmitted to the workstations in the kitchen.
The Call a Pizza store in Bernau has a total of four pizza stations, one burger station, and one packing station in the kitchen. Each workstation displays which items need to be prepared for each order on the kitchen monitor. Order processing can be started with just a single click. The Call a Pizza kitchen team can see on the monitor which orders are already in progress. As a result, complicated coordination between staff is no longer necessary, and incorrect orders are a thing of the past.
Once a product is finished and put in the oven, the order is forwarded to the packing station with a single click. The order disappears from the workstation and reappears at the packing station, where it can be packed for delivery. The order is also marked as completed in the POS system. Since the introduction of the SIDES kitchen software, the Call a Pizza stores have been processing orders significantly faster than before.

Optimized route planning with SIDES Driver Management
Jacques Kulig uses driver managementin his Call a Pizza stores to optimize order delivery. The seamless integration of the kitchen software into the driver tool allows orders to be optimally grouped for delivery right at the kitchen stations. This makes it an ideal delivery service software. The franchisee prefers manual route planning in his Call a Pizza branches.
After an order is marked as finished at the packing station, delivery routes are planned via the driver management system. Using the driver hub, Jacques Kulig can see which orders are already out for delivery and where individual drivers are currently located. The 8 to 15 drivers on the road at any given time receive all information regarding their active delivery route via the driver app.
In addition to significant time savings, franchisee Jacques Kulig benefits from various analysis tools. For example, he can evaluate individual preparation and delivery times as restaurant statistics . For Jacques Kulig, the investment in the SIDES branch management software paid for itself after just a few months.
